About

A question that became a company.

Why we started, what’s changed about wildfire, and what we care about while we build.

The founding question

ScorchPod started with a simple observation: by the time most people learn a wildfire has started, it has often already outrun the systems meant to catch it. Our founders have spent their careers working alongside fire science, land management, and engineering — watching fire seasons get longer, drier, and less predictable — and kept coming back to the same question: why hadn’t the tools for seeing and stopping fire early kept pace with how fire itself has changed?

That question became the company. We’re still early. We’re heads-down. But we didn’t want to wait until launch to say why we’re doing this.

The scale of the problem

Longer seasons

Fire seasons across the western United States now stretch well beyond the traditional summer window, giving landscapes less time to recover between events.

Higher stakes

More homes, infrastructure, and communities now sit inside the wildland-urban interface than at any point in recent history.

Rising cost

Insurers, utilities, and governments are all absorbing growing costs from fire risk — before a single fire starts.

What we value

Safety first

Everything we build has to hold up for the people relying on it in the worst moments of their year. We don’t ship what we haven’t earned confidence in.

Scientific rigor

Fire behavior is complex and unforgiving of shortcuts. We ground our work in real fire science and test our assumptions relentlessly.

Urgency

Fire seasons don’t pause for product roadmaps. We move with the seriousness the problem deserves.

Community

We’re building for the people who live with this risk every year — not just the institutions that manage it.

Where we are today

ScorchPod is in stealth. We’re early, we’re heads-down, and we’re deliberately not sharing details about our technology yet. If you’re reading this as an investor, a potential partner, or a future teammate, we’d rather have that conversation directly than post it here — reach out.
